Crawford praises Ennis’ tools but insists focus decides fights
In an interview with Ring Champs, Crawford said that, looking in from the outside, Ennis has traits that could present problems — but suggested that inside the ring, focus often quiets those perceived threats. He listed attributes including quick hands, counter-punching, volume punching and athleticism. Crawford said: "Boots got fast hands; he’s a good counterpuncher; he’s a volume puncher; he throws punches in bunches … he got good reflexes; he’s young; he’s athletic" — while adding that, once engaged, fighters sometimes find those things less decisive than they initially appear.
Crawford remains retired but has not ruled out a marquee return
The 38-year-old called it quits in December after a run that included a win over Canelo Alvarez at 168lbs.
