Abdullah Mason

Abdullah Mason is an American southpaw lightweight who rose through the domestic ranks to become the WBO World Lightweight Champion. Born April 5, 2004, in Bedford, Ohio, and fighting out of Cleveland, Mason combines notable physical tools — listed at 175 cm with a 188 cm reach — with a high finishing rate. That combination has produced an undefeated professional record of 21–0, with 18 wins by stoppage. Mason turned pro in late 2021 and made an immediate impact, stopping Jaylan Phillips by second-round TKO on the Mikaela Mayer vs Maïva Hamadouche undercard in Las Vegas. Across 2022 and 2023 he compiled a string of early stoppages while gradually stepping up in quality and fight length, with quick TKO victories in venues ranging from the MGM Grand Garden Arena to Madison Square Garden Theater and regional casinos. His only two decision wins to that point came in four- and six-round assignments, showing he could also go the distance when required. By 2024 Mason was regularly fighting eight-rounders and taking spots on major undercards. He scored stoppages on cards such as Haney vs Lomachenko and Stevenson vs De Los Santos, while collecting decisive wins at venues including T-Mobile Arena and the Prudential Center. Those performances set the stage for his first 10-round title opportunity. On April 5, 2025, Mason captured the vacant NABF Lightweight and vacant WBO–NABO Lightweight titles with a sixth-round TKO of Carlos Ornelas at the Palms Casino Resort. He followed that with a successful retention of those regional belts on June 7, 2025, when Jeremia Nakathila retired after the fifth round in Norfolk, a result recorded as an RTD. Mason moved from regional to world level later that year. On November 22, 2025, he won the vacant WBO World Lightweight Title via unanimous decision over Sam Noakes over 12 rounds in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, taking the world crown on a major international card. He defended the WBO belt on July 4, 2026, stopping Albert Bell by 12th-round TKO in Cleveland on the DAZN/TNT main-event card. Across 21 professional fights Mason has blended power and durability, demonstrated by his 18 stoppages and successful progression from four-round prospects to world championship 12-rounders. As the active WBO World Lightweight Champion, he occupies a prominent position in the division and has established himself as a headline-level southpaw with a proven ability to finish opponents as well as to go the distance when a title is on the line.
