Anthony Yarde

Anthony “The Beast from the East” Yarde is a British professional boxer from East London and a three-time light-heavyweight world-title challenger known for his exceptional knockout power. Yarde came to boxing comparatively late and had only a short amateur career before turning professional in May 2015. Despite his limited amateur experience, his combination of speed, strength and punching power allowed him to progress rapidly through the professional ranks. His official biography says he had only 12 amateur fights before beginning his professional career. Yarde built an 18–0 professional record before travelling to Chelyabinsk, Russia, in August 2019 to challenge Sergey Kovalev for the WBO light-heavyweight championship. Yarde pushed the experienced champion hard before being stopped in the 11th round, suffering his first professional defeat. A domestic rivalry with Lyndon Arthur subsequently became an important part of Yarde's career. Arthur won their first meeting by split decision in December 2020, but Yarde emphatically reversed the result one year later, stopping Arthur in the fourth round. Yarde received his second world-title opportunity in January 2023 against unified champion Artur Beterbiev at Wembley Arena. In an action-packed contest, Yarde remained competitive before Beterbiev stopped him in the eighth round to retain the WBC, IBF and WBO championships. Yarde rebuilt with victories over Jorge Silva, Marko Nikolic and Ralfs Vilcans before meeting Arthur for a third time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April 2025. Yarde won the trilogy fight by unanimous decision over 12 rounds. His third world-title opportunity followed against unbeaten WBC champion David Benavidez in Riyadh on 22 November 2025. Benavidez stopped Yarde in the seventh round, leaving Yarde with a professional record of 27–4 with 24 knockout victories.
