Ben Whittaker

Ben “The Surgeon” Whittaker is an unbeaten British light-heavyweight boxer and Olympic silver medallist known for an unconventional, flamboyant fighting style combined with speed, timing and technical ability. Born on 6 June 1997 and fighting out of the West Midlands, Whittaker developed an extensive amateur career before representing Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympic Games. He reached the light-heavyweight final and returned home with an Olympic silver medal before turning professional in 2022. Whittaker made his professional debut against Greg O'Neill in July 2022 and quickly began attracting attention both for his boxing ability and his showmanship. At 6ft 3in with a 75-inch reach, he possesses unusual height and athleticism for the light-heavyweight division. His first significant professional test came against Eworitse Ezra Arenyeka in June 2024. Whittaker completed ten rounds for the first time, winning a unanimous decision and collecting the IBF International light-heavyweight title. An extraordinary first encounter with Liam Cameron followed in Riyadh in October 2024. The fighters tumbled over the ropes during the contest and Whittaker suffered an injury that prevented him from continuing. With five rounds completed, the bout went to the scorecards and was declared a technical split draw — the only blemish on Whittaker's professional record. Whittaker and Cameron met again in Birmingham in April 2025. This time, there was no uncertainty, as Whittaker stopped Cameron in the second round. His rise continued with a first-round knockout of Benjamin Gavazi in November 2025 to claim the WBC Silver light-heavyweight title, followed by another first-round knockout against Braian Nahuel Suarez in Liverpool in April 2026. Whittaker made his American debut at Barclays Centre in Brooklyn on 27 June 2026 against Richard Rivera. He dropped Rivera late in the opening round and finished the contest just 27 seconds into round two, improving his professional record to 12–0–1 with nine stoppage victories.
