About Deontay Wilder

Deontay Wilder is an American heavyweight boxer and former WBC heavyweight world champion. Known as “The Bronze Bomber”, Wilder became one of the most recognisable knockout punchers of his generation, building much of his early professional career around a remarkable run of stoppage victories. After representing the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games and winning a bronze medal, Wilder turned professional later that year. He captured the WBC heavyweight championship by defeating Bermane Stiverne by unanimous decision in January 2015 and went on to make a lengthy series of successful title defences. Wilder's championship run included victories over Eric Molina, Johann Duhaupas, Artur Szpilka, Chris Arreola, Gerald Washington, Stiverne and Luis Ortiz. His rivalry with Tyson Fury became one of the era's defining heavyweight rivalries. Their first fight ended in a split draw in December 2018 before Fury defeated Wilder in their 2020 and 2021 rematches. Wilder later returned with a first-round knockout of Robert Helenius before losing to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang. He subsequently stopped Tyrrell Anthony Herndon in 2025 and defeated Derek Chisora by split decision in London in April 2026.
