About Derek Chisora
Derek Chisora is a British heavyweight boxer and former British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight champion. Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Chisora moved to the United Kingdom as a teenager and began boxing relatively late, winning the 2006 ABA super-heavyweight championship before turning professional in 2007.
Known as βWarβ, Chisora has built one of the most extensive rΓ©sumΓ©s of any British heavyweight of his generation. Across a professional career spanning nearly two decades, he has faced numerous world champions and leading contenders including Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, Vitali Klitschko, Joseph Parker, Dillian Whyte, Kubrat Pulev, Agit Kabayel, David Haye and Joe Joyce.
Chisora challenged Vitali Klitschko for the WBC heavyweight championship in 2012 and later received another WBC world-title opportunity against Tyson Fury in 2022. Although he did not capture a world championship, Chisora won British, Commonwealth and European honours during his career.
A late-career resurgence saw Chisora defeat Gerald Washington in 2023 and Joe Joyce in 2024 before scoring a unanimous-decision victory over Otto Wallin in Manchester in February 2025. Queensberry won by scores of 114β112, 116β110, and 117β109.
