Filip Hrgović

Filip Hrgović is a Croatian heavyweight boxer and IBF heavyweight world champion. A decorated amateur and bronze medallist at the 2016 Olympic Games, Hrgović turned professional in 2017 and established himself as one of Europe's leading heavyweight contenders. Hrgović built an undefeated professional record while climbing the heavyweight rankings. In August 2022, he defeated Zhilei Zhang by unanimous decision in a closely contested bout in Jeddah. His unbeaten run ended in June 2024 when Daniel Dubois stopped him in the eighth round in Riyadh. Hrgović subsequently rebuilt his position with victories over Joe Joyce and David Adeleye before stopping Dave Allen in the third round in May 2026. Queensberry described the Allen victory as Hrgović's third successive win following the Dubois defeat. Hrgović received a major world-title opportunity against the undefeated Moses Itauma at London's O2 Arena on 29 August 2026. Itauma controlled much of the early contest and hurt Hrgović, but the Croatian remained in the fight as Itauma tired. Hrgović took over in the ninth round and forced the stoppage to capture the vacant IBF heavyweight championship. The victory made Hrgović Croatia's first heavyweight world champion and moved his professional record to 21 wins and one defeat.
