About Joseph Parker
Joseph Parker is a New Zealand heavyweight boxer and former WBO heavyweight world champion. Born in Auckland, Parker turned professional in 2012 and developed into one of the leading heavyweights of his generation.
Parker captured the vacant WBO heavyweight championship in 2016 and successfully defended the title before meeting Anthony Joshua in a major unification fight in Cardiff in March 2018. Joshua won by unanimous decision, ending Parker's reign as WBO champion.
Parker remained a major figure in the heavyweight division, facing opponents including Dillian Whyte, Derek Chisora and Joe Joyce. He later produced a significant resurgence, defeating Deontay Wilder by unanimous decision in Riyadh in December 2023 before beating Zhilei Zhang by majority decision in March 2024.
In February 2025, Parker stopped Martin Bakole in the second round. He later faced Fabio Wardley at London's O2 Arena in October 2025 and suffered an 11th-round stoppage defeat.
