Kenshiro Teraji

Kenshiro Teraji is a Japanese orthodox boxer known as “The Amazing Boy” who has established himself across light-fly, fly and junior-bantamweight ranks. Hailing from Jōyō and fighting out of Uji in Kyoto, Teraji rose from domestic prospects to multi-weight world titleholder through a career built on technical boxing, power stoppages and a steady climb through Japan’s domestic scene into world title contention. Teraji turned professional in 2014 and compiled a string of victories on the Japanese circuit while collecting early regional honours. In 2015 he captured domestic youth and Japanese light-flyweight honours, winning a WBC Youth/ Japanese regional belt in August and the Japanese Light Flyweight title by decision in December. Those early title wins set the stage for a world title opportunity two years later. On May 20, 2017 Teraji stepped up to world level and won the WBC World Light Flyweight title via majority decision over Ganigan López. He defended that belt through a run that included majority decision wins over Pedro Guevara and stoppage victories against Gilberto Pedroza and a rematch KO of López. Teraji added notable defenses against Milan Melindo (TKO), Saul Juárez (UD), Jonathan Taconing (TKO) and Randy Petalcorin (TKO), demonstrating both durability and finishing ability at 108 pounds. Teraji’s long association with the WBC light-flyweight crown included a setback in September 2021 when he lost the title by TKO to Masamichi Yabuki, but he avenged that loss less than a year later with a first-round KO on March 19, 2022. He then defeated former world champion Hiroto Kyoguchi by TKO in November 2022 and added further title defenses through 2023, including stoppage wins over Anthony Olascuaga and Hekkie Budler. In January 2024 Teraji added the WBA (Super) World Light Flyweight title with a majority decision over Carlos Canizales, before moving up to flyweight later that year. On October 13, 2024 he claimed the vacant WBC World Flyweight title with a TKO over Cristofer Rosales, and on March 13, 2025 he recorded a TKO win over Seigo Yuri Akui that carried WBC and WBA flyweight title designations. Teraji’s run at flyweight ended on July 30, 2025 when he lost the unified WBC & WBA flyweight titles by split decision to Ricardo Rafael Sandoval. Teraji continued his career by moving to junior-bantamweight/super-flyweight and on July 20, 2026 he won the vacant WBO World Junior Bantamweight (115 lb) title by unanimous decision over Israel González. His professional ledger stands at 26 wins and 2 losses, with 16 wins by KO/TKO. As an active, multi-division titleholder and former long-reigning WBC light-flyweight champion, Teraji remains a prominent figure in the 115 lb division as the reigning WBO World Junior Bantamweight champion.
