Michal Cieślak

Michał Cieślak is a Polish professional boxer and WBC cruiserweight world champion. Born on 19 April 1989 in Kozienice, Poland, Cieślak turned professional in 2013 and quickly became one of Poland's leading cruiserweights. Cieślak won his first 19 professional contests before travelling to the Democratic Republic of the Congo to challenge Ilunga Makabu for the vacant WBC cruiserweight championship in January 2020. He suffered his first professional defeat by unanimous decision after 12 rounds. He received another world-title opportunity in February 2022 when he travelled to London to challenge Lawrence Okolie for the WBO cruiserweight championship. Cieślak again went the distance but lost by unanimous decision. Cieślak rebuilt his career with a succession of victories and travelled to Canada in June 2025 to face former light-heavyweight world champion, Jean Pascal. Cieślak stopped Pascal in the fourth round to capture the interim WBC cruiserweight championship and improve his professional record to 28–2. In September 2026, the WBC elevated Cieślak to full cruiserweight world champion. He remains one of the division's leading fighters alongside Jai Opetaia and unified WBA/WBO champion David Benavidez.
