Sebastian Alexander Fundora

Sebastian Alexander Fundora, nicknamed “The Towering Inferno,” is an American southpaw competing at light middleweight who holds the WBC light middleweight world title. Standing an imposing 198 cm and commonly listed with a 203 cm reach (sources vary), Fundora has combined size, power and a southpaw switch of rhythm to climb from prospect status to world champion. Fundora turned professional in September 2016, opening with a first-round KO of Jose Cardenas. Over the next three years he compiled a steady sequence of early stoppages and decisions while campaigning on cards across the United States and Mexico. Early highlights included stoppages of Ve Shawn Owens and Antonio Urista in 2018, a third-round KO of Donnie Marshall at the Microsoft Theater in 2019, and an RTD victory over Hector Manuel Zepeda in the ShoBox main event later that year. He also drew with Jamontay Clark in August 2019 when the vacant WBC Youth light middleweight title was at stake. Fundora began stepping into the title picture in 2022. In April of that year he captured the WBC interim light middleweight title when Erickson Lubin retired after nine rounds. He made a successful interim defence that October with a unanimous decision over Carlos Ocampo. Those performances established Fundora as a top contender within the division and positioned him for higher-profile opportunities on major undercards, including fights on the Wilder–Fury II and Spence–Garcia undercards, and on the Gervonta Davis–Isaac Cruz undercard. A setback arrived in April 2023 when Fundora suffered his first professional defeat, a seventh-round KO loss to Brian Mendoza while defending the WBC interim title. He rebounded in decisive fashion the following year. On March 30, 2024, Fundora defeated Tim Tszyu by split decision to win the vacant WBC light middleweight title; the same night he also took Tszyu’s WBO belt, though WBO recognition of that status was later changed. As champion, Fundora has defended and reinforced his standing in the division. Notable title fights since winning the WBC belt include a fourth-round TKO of Chordale Booker, a seventh-round RTD win in a rematch with Tim Tszyu, and a sixth-round TKO of Keith Thurman on March 28, 2026, all fought at light middleweight. Fundora’s record stands at 24–1–1 with 16 stoppage victories. Now the incumbent WBC light middleweight champion, he occupies a prominent position in the 154-pound ranks after a career that has moved from regional undercards to world-title bouts.
