Vergil Efrain Ortiz II

Vergil Efrain Ortiz II is an American super-welterweight contender and the current WBC Interim World Super‑Welterweight champion. Fighting out of Grand Prairie, Texas, Ortiz stands 178 cm with a 178 cm reach, boxes from an orthodox stance and has compiled a professional record of 24–0 with 22 stoppage wins. His straight-ahead power and high finish rate have marked a fast-moving rise through multiple weight divisions since his 2016 debut. Ortiz turned pro in July 2016 and opened his career with a succession of early knockouts, scoring first-round stoppages in several of his earliest outings. That early momentum carried him into title contention by early 2018, when he stopped Jesús Álvarez Rodríguez to capture the vacant NABF Junior Super Lightweight title in February of that year. After moving up in weight, Ortiz stepped into the welterweight ranks and continued to build a resume of meaningful wins. In August 2019 he won the vacant WBA Gold welterweight title over Antonio Orozco and then retained that belt later in 2019 with a stoppage of Brad Solomon.
